Rhetorical Strategy Essay

Today in class we composed an essay based on rhetorical strategies that were used in Barack Obama’a speech. His reason for giving the speech was to convey hope back to the American citizens. I feel better about composing essays because before I didn’t really understand much, but now I do.

Relief

Today in class we discussed the usage of cell phones and how they make us lack social skills with one another effectively. We also had time to discuss some of our personal issues and opinions on many different topics. After talking and getting a lot off of my chest, I feel relieved. I feel relieved from the anger and problems I had built inside from past situations.
Today in class we discussed many different topics and how we felt about them. We also vented to each other about our feelings.
Today I was absent from class.

Is Google making us stupid?

In my opinion, Google is making us stupid and lazy. Stupid meaning we lack the intelligence so we run to Google for the answers. Google makes us lazy because we take advantage of not doing much of searching to get your answer. Us humans rather type on the phone for an answer rather than ask someone else.

Subject and object pronouns

Today in class we discussed subject and object pronouns. I learned that subject pronouns are used as subjects to sentences, and object pronouns are used as objects of verbs. When you’re trying to correct an error it will always be in the second part of a compound.

Introduction

Today in class we discussed the introduction of an essay. In the introduction paragraph  you start with the attention getter, short summary, then thesis statement. The thesis statement starts by saying the author’s name and describing them with an adjective. You then move on to discuss rhetorical strategies and the topics of your body paragraphs. Add a strong verb and function, and you’re ready to move on to your body. I learned that logos, pathos, ethos, and diction will always be present.

Rhetorical Analysis

Today in class we learned about the rhetorical triangle and everything that makes up a speech. Ethos, logos, and pathos are 3 of the most essential skills in a rhetorical analysis. Following up from our “I have a dream “ speechwe then went back and identified ethos, logos, and pathos.

Paper Bag Project

While creating my project I felt excited. When I think about presenting day, I think of excitement and     joy because my class is very funny. Today I learned what many words meant from the presentation. I was actually entertained  and interested in what my classmates brought.

I Have A Dream Speech

Today in class we analyzed Rhetorical Strategies using Martin Luther King’s “I Have A Dream” speech. I’ve learned how rhetorical strategies can be used and only understood by reading and understanding. We also used the Soapstone strategy to recognize and understand the setting and purpose of the speech.

Rhetorical Analysis

Today in class we discussed rhetorical analysis. Prime Minister Thatcher used rhetorical strategies while presenting  Ronald Reagan’s eulogy. Some rhetorical strategies are using ethos, logos, and pathos, but without saying there names.
Today in class we recited the poems that we wrote and took a test on writing a poem with metaphors.
